| Bio: | Name: Zaraki Kenpachi Age: 39 Occupation: Zaraki is self-employed, offering his services as bodyguard/security for special events and functions. He won’t do something that’s illegal, but he won’t shy away from something that toes that line, either. He’ll also hire out as a weapons or self-defense instructor, being an expert in several ways of fighting (including street) and many different bladed weapons. He tries to avoid working with claymores, though. Is he social (makes friends easily) or anti-social (more guarded)? Kenpachi makes acquaintances easily, people to hang out with, but it takes a whole lot of work to become his friend. Trust doesn’t come easily or naturally to him. He’s had a couple of actual friends through the years, and he’s willing to make more, but he doesn’t feel a need to have them. There are two in particular he's hung out with from time to time (and gone back-to-back with in tight spots), and counts as close, but he hasn't seen either of them in a while. __ When Kenpachi was young, Social Services took him from his family. He never found out why. A worker placed him with a couple who took him and several others in as means to an end, the monthly check in the mail. It was noisy, neither foster parent could care less, and his foster-father liked to use them as punching bags after stressful days. Kenpachi ran away twice. The second time he was eight years old and successful in getting away. For about fifteen years he lived on his own, using his toughness to survive and make a name for himself on the streets, moving to different areas often to stay ahead of anyone who might be looking for him. Then he came upon a drive-by gone wrong, or what looked like it, and a little girl playing in the blood of what appeared to be her parents. The area was dark and dingy; no one was around. Kenpachi didn’t hesitate, picking her up and leaving. He had no faith left in ‘the system’ to take care of her. For the first time in his life he started thinking about things like where he would sleep that night and what was actually nutritious instead of quick and cheap. Kenpachi kept moving around. It was instinct. But he now was renting small apartments too, and watching Disney movies. (He thought they were stupid, but they taught decent enough stuff, and sometimes little Yachiru would stop crying if he sang the songs to her in his slightly-off-key voice.) But he couldn’t stay in one place. He tried to do his best by Yachiru, telling her everything he wish he’d been told, teaching her right from wrong, and training her to be tough. When he deemed her old enough to be on her own, and saw she’d become attached to a place, he left to wander again. He kept coming back, though, because she was the only person in his life that mattered. Now he’s 39. A lot of time has passed. He’s realizing that he’s getting old. There’s something about the number 40 that, while he can’t put it into words, he finds disquieting. Coming is a day when he can no longer fight for his dinner, when people needing an extra tough will pass him over and take a younger guy. So he’s come back to Mishima, back to the one person he equates with belonging, and is wondering if it’s time for him to stop wandering. __ Comments? Complaints? Critiques?
